Ten Items To Pack In Your Car for Cold Weather

It’s always a good idea to plan ahead, even if you don’t expect there to be any issues. It’s just smart.

One of the best ways to do this is to have a pack in your car at all times with essentials if you ever become stranded in cold weather. Even if you’re stuck for a short period of time, say if you’re waiting for us to come help you out of a lockout situation, it can be helpful to have these items on hand.

Here are a few things we suggest for you to keep in your car at all times.

  • Shovel
  • Icescraper
  • Gas can
  • Jumper cables
  • Flashlight
  • External battery charger
  • Spare tire
  • Air compressor
  • Road flares
  • Blankets

Feel free to add in your own items and be sure to call us if you’re ever in a lockout situation.

Watch them Break into a Safe That Hasn’t Been Opened in 30 years (VIDEO)

If you check out our blog from time to time, you’ll notice that we post a few fun “lock breaking” or “lock picking” videos from around the world.

Whether or not you’re a locksmith and lock enthusiast like we are, you can appreciate the fun that goes into getting into something (that you have permission to, of course).

We came across this video on Facebook and had to share. According to the description, “Gold Jewelry owning Alaskan grandfather hasn’t opened this safe for 30 years. We step in to help!”

What do you think will be inside?

Get to Know the Pagoda in Reading, PA

Our travels take us all over the Lehigh Valley and beyond.

This recent shot was one we wanted to share not only because it looks cool but also because it’s fun to learn about some of the more interesting spots in the land we live in.

The Pagoda in Reading, Pennslyvania was built in 1908 initially to be part of a luxury resort!

Today, the Pagoda is owned by the City of Reading but is managed and preserved by the Foundation for the Reading Pagoda. It houses a small café and a gift shop, and functions as an icon for the City of Reading. The Pagoda is also the home of Pagoda Skyline, Inc., a non-profit volunteer organization formed in 1969 to help with the restoration and preservation of the Pagoda, the William Penn Memorial Fire Tower and Skyline Drive.

It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1972!

Tips for Taking Care of Your Car Keys

Our car and house keys are one of the most important things that we carry with us each day, but we may not give them the proper respect that they deserve.

Here are a few tips on how to properly take care of your keys and get the most out of them over the long haul.

1. Security

Car keys are one of the first things that a burglar will target in someone’s house. Do you have a safe place to store them that isn’t inside a basket or on a hook in the front door? It’s a good idea to keep them in the same place each and every night. Not only will it make it harder for you to forget them, but you’ll also have peace of mind knowing that they are safe.

2. Got a Spare?

Having a spare key is a great idea, and one that some people tend not to undertake. Have a spare key hidden somewhere on your property that isn’t under a flowerpot in your front yard. Also, it’s smart to give a spare key to a relative or loved one if you are locked out or if an emergency arises.

3. Take a Look

Keys may seem sturdy, and most are, but they can easily bend or break like anything that’s used on a daily basis. If you notice a bit of a bend on your keys or they aren’t turning like they used to, it’s time to give us a call.

4. Did We Mention Security?

Treat your keys like you do your wallet. Make sure that they aren’t visible when you go out and make sure that you keep them in a safe and secure place on your person. If you do know that your keys have been stolen or lost, we’re here for you. Contact 24/7 Emergency Locksmith.

Be Safe During Lehigh Valley Parades

Winter is clearing way for warmer weather, bicycles, motorcycles, runners, joggers, children at play, and, yes, even parades!

There are many parades throughout the Lehigh Valley beginning this time of the year with the Parade of the Shamrocks parade in Bethlehem and the Allentown St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

So, while it may be common sense to some, here are some tips for you to keep yourself, and others, safe at your local parade.

  1. The Parade isn’t just downtown: Parades bring in higher than normal traffic, more people on the streets, and, of course, floats! Be careful driving even if you’re not close to “parade central.”
  2. Keep the little ones close: Parades are essentially circuses on wheels and there is a lot going on! It’s easy to loose track of things like where you parked, but it’s also important to remember to keep your children close to you!
  3. Watch out for floats: We touched on them in number 1, but prepare to see some interesting vehicles that may or may not be street legal.
  4. Don’t run up to floats for candy: Many parades have straight out disallowed throwing anything from floats due to the risk it can present to children running into the street. If your parade does allow for candy throwing, don’t run up and get any that is too far away from your arm’s reach! It’s not worth it.
  5. Have a great time: one of the best things about living in the Lehigh Valley are the parades and festivals. Enjoy!

The Best Lehigh Valley Restaurants To Lock Your Keys In Your Car at This Summer

First off, this article is meant to be a little more lighthearted than some of our others. Of course, we never wish for anyone to lock their keys in their car, however, if you’re going to do so, here are some of the best spots in the Lehigh Valley to lock your keys in your car at!

Sette Luna

This Easton restaurant has some of the best patio seating in the whole Lehigh Valley. Their cuisine isn’t so bad, either.

Porters’ Pub

Also in Easton, Porters’ was voted as the Best Bar in the Lehigh Valley by LehighValleyLive.com. Even though it’s a small pub, it still has some amazing dishes and specials.

The Bayou

We wouldn’t mind spending some extra time at The Bayou in Bethlehem! They have, in our opinion, some of the best fried chicken you’ll find anywhere.

Tapas on Main

Located in downtown Bethlehem, Tapas has some of the most well-populated outdoor seating throughout the spring and summer months.

The Dime

At the center of Allentown, and above the PPL Center, The Dime is one of the most unique spots to dine in the whole Lehigh Valley.

Of course, we don’t actually want you to get locked out at any of these restaurants, however, if you do, please be sure to

5 Things Worse Than Getting Locked Out of Your Car in the Lehigh Valley

If you’ve ever locked yourself out of your car, whether it’s before work or just before you need to get somewhere in general, it’s one of the worst feelings in the world. It’s so bad, in fact, that we thought there couldn’t be more than a few things that could actually be worse.

Here they are…

Walking Across a Floor of Legos

Sure, it may depend on the length of the floor, but making your way across a floor covered in Legos may just be worse than getting locked out of your car.

Missing Breakfast at McDonald’s Before they went to all day breakfast

Remember getting there at 10:35 a.m. and being told that they had switched to the lunch menu? Nooooo!

Getting Caught in a Traffic Jam on Interstate 78 after Work on a Friday

Sometimes, getting stuck in a traffic jam isn’t the worst thing, especially if you have your favorite podcast or Spotify playlist cued up. However, if you’re heading home for the weekend and you’re stuck in what seems like an endless gridlock, that’s just no fun.

Having a Huge Snow Storm on a Weekend

Really, weather? You couldn’t wait until Monday morning to deliver those 12 inches of snow?

Getting Locked Out of Your House or Apartment

Sure, getting locked out of your car isn’t fun, but getting locked out of your house or apartment is worse. At least if you can’t get into your car you can hang out inside for 24/7 Emergency Locksmith to come help you out!

If you find yourself in a lockout situation, be sure to reach out to us and we’ll get you out of a jam in a jiffy: (484) 891-1922.
